Manager Programs and Operations - City of Parramatta

The Parramatta Aquatic Centre is due to be completed and operational by mid-2023. Once fully operational, the $88.6 million state-of-the-art centre will deliver an all-year-round aquatic and wellness experience with forecast visitation of 1 million visitors per annum and will feature:

  • 50m, 10-lane heated outdoor pool with seating
  • 25m, 8-lane heated indoor recreational pool
  • dedicated, heated indoor Learn to Swim pool
  • indoor all-abilities water playground
  • steam, sauna and spa facilities
  • fitness centre, including a modern gym and program rooms
  • multipurpose community rooms and consultant rooms
  • A cafe with indoor and outdoor casual seating

Reporting to the Aquatics and Wellness Manager, the Manager Programs and Operations sits within the Aquatic and Wellness Leadership Team and is responsible for leading the delivery of customer service excellence, outcomes focused aquatic and fitness programming and seamless delivery of operations within Council’s Aquatic and Wellness facilities.

This dynamic and varied management role will be responsible for inspiring and motivating a team across multiple venues to deliver enjoyable fitness and swimming programming for the community. As well as leading the strategy for integrated and coordinated programming and overseeing the operational management of programs, the role will work collaboratively with the leadership team to continuously improve and grow the services for the benefit of the community and the social and financial objectives of Council. This role sets the tone of all wet and dry programs with a clear focus on leading, demonstrating and encouraging a positive staff culture that is committed to providing a safe and high quality customer experience.

The position is responsible for leading and developing a team of 7 permanent staff and circa 30 casual employees, relating daily to the Aquatic Programs Coordinator, Aquatic Program Supervisors, Head Swim Coach, Swim Instructors and venue patrons, whilst also working collaboratively with the Health and Wellness Manager for the delivery of fitness programs.

To be considered for this role you will have senior facility management experience overseeing the operational and programming requirements of high visitation centres including Learn to Swim and Squad programs and/or Health and Wellness programs. With a strategic and solutions focused mindset, the ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of aquatic and fitness industry regulations and a track record of managing a large staff team across multiple programs.

Qualifications including Aquatic Operations and Supervision, Aquatic Management or similar are essential. Appropriate tertiary qualifications in recreation, business or a related discipline would be looked upon favourably, as would any experiences within local government or a start-up business / facility.
