Health and Wellness Manager - City of Parramatta

The Parramatta Aquatic Centre is due to be completed and operational by mid-2023. Once fully operational, the $88.6 million state-of-the-art centre will deliver an all-year-round aquatic and wellness experience with forecast visitation of 1 million visitors per annum and will feature:

  • 50m, 10-lane heated outdoor pool with seating
  • 25m, 8-lane heated indoor recreational pool
  • dedicated, heated indoor Learn to Swim pool
  • indoor all-abilities water playground
  • steam, sauna and spa facilities
  • fitness centre, including a modern gym and program rooms
  • multipurpose community rooms and consultant rooms
  • A cafe with indoor and outdoor casual seating

Reporting to the Aquatics and Wellness Manager, the Safety and Facilities Manager sits within the Aquatic and Wellness Leadership Team and is responsible for leading the Health and Wellness team within Council’s integrated aquatic and wellness facilities. The role will deliver cost effective rostering, budgeting, assist with facility bookings and ensure the day-to-day operations of the facilities are compliant with AUSactive guidelines.

This role sets the tone of all dry programs with a clear focus on leading, demonstrating and encouraging a positive staff culture that is committed to providing a safe and high quality customer experience. The position is responsible for leading and developing a team of 2 permanent staff and circa 35 casual employees, relating daily to the Health and Wellness Supervisors, Personal Trainers, Group Fitness Instructors and venue patrons, whilst also working collaboratively with the Manager Programs and Operations for the integration of facility programs.

To be considered for this role you will have a strong background and expertise in all areas of Health and Wellness operations including Group Fitness coordination, Personal Training program management, member exercise assessments, programming, touring and sales. A proven team player who excels in an environment of continual improvement, you will have the ability to analyse data and make programming adjustments accordingly to improve the member experience and deliver targets related to membership recruitment and retention.

Qualifications including Cert III & IV in Fitness are essential. Candidates must be able and willing to teach multiple styles of Group Exercise programs, with Les Mills Training experience preferred. Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Exercise Science, Business or a related discipline would be looked upon favourably, as would any experiences within local government or a start-up business / facility.
